Smoke filled bubble installation
Smoke filled bubble installation (640 x 290 x 380). Water, soap, smoke and wood

Combining materials with different properties - bubbles and smoke – this installation changes their materiality. On entering the installation, you walk through a darkroom-style corridor, before entering a space with natural light. Here, you encounter the machine which combines the two materials. Stereotypically, we expect bubbles to be light and float and smoke to be formless. As the bubbles were packed with smoke, they took on weight, heightening their sphericalness. Consequently, they fell and crashed on the floor, leaving a perfect circle of smoke in the air before dispersing. University of Brighton 2007
